Jenni has definitely become one of my favorite people over the last few months.  When I originally became interested in photography, Jenni was more than willing to offer up her knowledge.  She’s a great photographer that respects all that goes into a photo.  I remember reading a post from her about “KNOW YOUR CAMERA – If you’re going to own a DSLR, know how to use it.”  LoL.

Jenni and I actually went to high school together (up until the 9th grade).  We had mutual friends, but I don’t think we ever really hung out.  To be honest, I found her a bit intimidating when we were kids. Her crowd was a bit rougher than mine :)  If you recall, I was on the nerdy side.  I kid you not, I did not tweeze my unibrow until I was well into high school.  Unibrow + clarinet player + frizzy curly hair = Not the coolest girl in school.  Just saying :)

BUT back to Jenni.

So when Jenni arrived for her session, it was the first time I had seen her since we were 15.  Seriously, she is so stinkin’ sweet!  I hope I’m not damaging her tough girl image by saying that, but it’s true.  :)  She’s that girl with a big heart, but if you try to be careless with that heart, she will tell you what you can go do with yourself.  If you treat her well, she will be in your corner.  I love how comfortable she is with herself.  She is who she is and she makes no apologies for it.

I know she thought she didn’t do well during her session because when you turn a camera on a photographer, the goofiest facial expressions will occur.  I don’t know why, but 9 times out of 10 a smile is the last thing that will appear.

I was so excited that she brought her skates and jersey.  Jenni is a roller derby girl and come on, that is sexy.  There is nothing more sexy than a woman pursuing what she has a passion for.  What is life if you don’t muster up the guts to step outside of your comfort zone every once and awhile.  For a lot of women, booking a boudoir session would be that :)

This is probably my favorite shot of Jenni.  The look on her face is a bit vulnerable which is poignant considering what her tattoo means to her.  Last year she suffered a miscarriage…I don’t begin to understand what that must feel like, but I do know that Jenni is already an amazing mother to her son…and she would have been one to her baby girl Phoenix. Thank you Jenni for letting me share that with everyone.  I’m not sure how many people will read this, but in my head its like 1,000,000 at least :)

Honestly, I can’t get over how gorgeous she is!    She has such a classic look.

Thank you Jenni for stepping out of your comfort zone and letting us photograph you in your skivvies.  :)  You did an amazing job.
